About Us

Preserving our Kastellorizian heritage while building a vibrant future for our community in Melbourne

Our Purpose

For over a century, The Kastellorizian Association of Victoria has been involved in the welfare of Kastellorizians and the broader Greek community in Victoria. We take immense pride in our enduring legacy and the generous spirit of a community deeply dedicated to supporting diaspora Kastellorizians, Greeks, and the wider public.

Equally, we are committed to preserving our Kastellorizian heritage and honoring Greek culture within our vibrant multicultural community.

By doing so, we aim to inspire our youth and future generations to carry forward the Association’s proud traditions in supporting those in need in the true spirit of our island’s symbol: Faith, Hope, and Charity.

Philanthropy & Welfare

Since 1925, The Kastellorizian Association of Victoria has supported Kastellorizians and the broader Greek community across the state of Victoria.

In 1916, Melbourne was home to just 500 Greeks; the majority originating from the island of Ithaca. Recognising the need for unity and care, the Kastellorizian Brotherhood was established on a foundation of pure philanthropy.

In those early days, with a small diaspora and no government support services available, the Kazzie community relied entirely on one another for both practical and emotional aid.

From its inception, the Brotherhood stepped up to care for those in need providing pauper’s funerals, assisting unemployed or injured workers, and supporting widows, alongside many other compassionate endeavours.
