In 2011, Florence retired as a secondary school teacher and had more time on her hands to pursue her lifelong passion, to research and record the history of the early Kastellorizians who settled in Australia. She also took on the role as the Archivist/Historian for the Kastellorizian Association of Victorian.

Over the years Florence has presented numerous seminars as well as publication of her research in journals and newsletters. Her personal favourites include:-

Stardust, The Golden Years of the Kastellorizian Ladies Society, Melbourne, 1961 – 1978, part of the 2025 GOC Seminar Series.

The Surreal Nature of War, From a Periscope to a Cricket Pitch in a Matter of Days, (The Yorker, Issue 64, 2017-2018, the journal of the Melbourne Cricket Club), the paper written as a tribute to the then upcoming Ashes Series.

Florence’s current research focuses on the early Kastellorizians who settled in Melbourne circa World War 1. She also volunteers at the Archive Centre of the GOC, assisting Historian Georgia Charpantidou to restore and categorise the archives held in storage for many years.
