
Kyriacos Garry Miritis is a retired Sports Therapist with over 45 years experience and having had his own practice in Mount Waverley.
Garry spent many years treating top Australian and international athletes which included Olympic Gold Medallists and World Champions including the Kenyan Olympic Athletic Team. Garry was Cathy Freeman’s personal therapist over her whole career from the age of 16 until her retirement from sport. Garry also treated many AFL footballers from most AFL Clubs.
About 25 years ago, Garry developed a treatment for Osteitis Pubis, a condition affecting both athletes and women postpartum, which subsequently gained international recognition. People travelled from across Australia and around the world to seek treatment from Garry, reflecting the international recognition of his expertise.
Garry represented Australia as a Sports Therapist at two Olympic Games (1996 and 2000), World Championships, Commonwealth Games and other major sporting events. He competed in the Torch Relay Run in Melbourne during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and in 2004 at the Athens Olympic Games, he represented Greece as a therapist.
For the past 19 years, he has been a Justice of the Peace in Victoria and a volunteer driver for South East Volunteers.
His Kastellorizian roots go back to his Grandparents Kyriacos Miritis and Maria Hatzipavlou (Pavlidis). Garry is proud of his Kastellorizian heritage and visits Kastellorizo with his wife Cathy at every possible opportunity.
